More Than a Destination

A JOURNEY THROUGH RELATIONSHIP

We do not travel through Colombia simply to visit beautiful places. We arrive as guests, with respect for the territories that receive us and for the visible and invisible relationships already present there.

Along the way we greet the land, the mountains, waters, plants, animals, ancestors and guardians of each place. We listen before we take, we give thanks before we leave, and we try to walk with the awareness that our presence also becomes part of the story of the land.

Ceremony, sound, nature and community are therefore not separate activities on an itinerary. They become different ways of entering into relationship, creating space to listen more deeply to ourselves, to one another, and to the world around us.

15th Edition

A JOURNEY SHAPED OVER MANY YEARS

This retreat was never created as a fixed programme to be repeated year after year. It has grown organically through experience, friendship, ceremony and the relationships that have developed in Colombia over time.

Each journey has taught us something. Places have changed, people have joined us, new friendships have appeared and others have deepened. Elders, musicians, families and communities have welcomed us into their worlds, and many of those relationships continue far beyond the days of the retreat.

In February 2027 we enter our 15th edition, carrying those years of learning with us while still allowing the journey to remain alive, responsive and open to what each new group brings.

The People Behind the Journey

HELD THROUGH RELATIONSHIP

The journey is led by Anthar Kharana, bringing together many years of ceremonial work, music, ancestral practice, sound healing and the experience of guiding groups through processes of inner exploration.

As we travel, we meet elders, friends, musicians, families and community members with whom Anthar has built relationships over many years. They are not brought in simply as facilitators or performers. They are part of the living network of relationships that makes this journey possible.

This is one of the aspects that gives the retreat its particular character: participants are invited not only into a programme, but into relationships, places and ways of seeing that have been cultivated through time.

The Medicine Wheel

AN ANCESTRAL MAP FOR A MODERN LIFE

Throughout the retreat we work with the Medicine Wheel as a living map for the journey. Rather than approaching each ceremony, teaching or traditional practice as something separate, we explore how they relate to one another and to the different movements, directions and cycles of our own lives.

Along the way we encounter different ceremonial and ancestral practices, working with sound, prayer, the elements, nature, silence, movement and the medicines that are part of this path. The intention is not simply to experience traditions, but to listen for what they can teach us about balance, responsibility, relationship and the way we choose to live.

A central part of the journey is asking how ancestral wisdom can remain alive in the present. How do we honour what has been carried through generations without reducing it to an idea or a ritual? And how can what we learn in ceremony continue to guide our relationships, our choices, our work and our everyday life when we return home?
