During the retreat we make our home in two very different parts of the Colombian Andes. From the lush, warm mountains around La Vega and Tenanzuca to the ancient landscapes of Villa de Leyva and the Muisca lands, each place brings its own atmosphere, rhythm and relationship with the land.
Our first home lies within the warm green mountains of La Vega, close to Tenanzuca, where Anthar lives.
Tenanzuca is known as the land where thunders are born and the land of the hummingbirds. This wider territory carries a very personal connection to the retreat and offers a gentle, intimate place in which to begin our time together.
The surrounding landscape is rich with rivers, lush vegetation, waterfalls, healing waters and mountain paths. From our home we are able to move easily into these natural and sacred places while still returning to the quiet rhythm of the house.
We stay in a peaceful country house surrounded by the green Andean mountains, with open views, natural spaces and a relaxed atmosphere.
There are places to gather, rest, share meals and simply enjoy being together. The natural pool and surrounding landscape make it easy to slow down between the different parts of the journey.
This is not just accommodation. It becomes our home for the first part of the retreat, allowing the group to settle into a shared rhythm and a sense of temporary community.
In the second part of the retreat we move into a very different landscape. Villa de Leyva and the surrounding Muisca lands carry a more spacious, ancient and expansive quality.
Wide skies, mountain ranges, desert landscapes and ancient stone formations create a strong contrast with the lush green beginning of the journey.
This is ancestral Muisca territory, rich in history, memory and sacred places. Our home here places us close to the surrounding sites while also giving us space to rest and absorb the change in landscape and atmosphere.
We stay in a traditional retreat house in the area, surrounded by mountains and within easy reach of the sacred places we visit.
It becomes our base for the second part of the retreat, offering comfortable shared spaces, places to rest and a peaceful environment in which to enjoy the atmosphere of Villa de Leyva itself.
As in La Vega, the home becomes part of the experience rather than simply a place to sleep, giving us a sense of continuity while the landscape around us changes completely.
Two homes, two landscapes and two very different atmospheres, each holding a different part of the same journey.
